I haven't posted any Dear Janes or Nearly Insanes for quite a while. I will try to get caught up with these two groups in the next few weeks. Life is slowing down a wee bit now and I think I can get something accomplished.
I have fourteen nieces and nephews and I have set the bar high for them for receiving a quilt for graduation. It has to be from college, not just high school.
I have been working hard on my Aunt Millie blocks. We have had about one solid month of rain here in New Jersey and applique seems like a good way to deal with the rain.
I have been busy machine quilting and doing a little piecing while the machine is hard at it. I have also been watching the antique quilt tops and blocks on ebay and having a little fun with that. I have made some fun purchases, some blocks and some tops. I will show them to you as I get them quilted. It seems like a good idea to finish some of these treasures that someone went to all of the trouble to make many years ago. I know they should be hand quilted, but that is not going to happen! I will try to put something on them that will compliment the piecing and the era it came from, but it won't be by hand!!!!! I have a little repair work to do as well to make some of them more usuable.
Every year, everywhere we live, we host an annual Cinco de Mayo party with all of the fixins for 100 plus people. A lot of people wonder why? What is our affliation with Mexico? Well, the answer is "its just a good excuse to drink margaritas.
A few people have asked me how I hung my applique quilt. Here's how I did it.
